There has got to be an easy way to remove an individual from a household because of a divorce. I've tried playing with the address as was suggested in another form but am still unable to figure out how to split a household. Please help!

If you bring up the household, under Constituents/Household Operations/ Convert to individual. That will create a separate record.

Thanks Susan. How do you handle the address situation? I can't seem to get the right combination of changing address of ex-spouse without changing address for other.
Tom's advise is excellent. You may have to add addresses to both individual accounts and make them primary for that account - depending on how it is set up.
Once they are no longer a household - you can change the address information as needed.

In a divorce you will have to figure out who in the households get any Members or ticket orders.
Go to the Relationship tab of the Household Record.
If the account you are trying to remove from the household is the A1 account go to the Constituent Menu, Household operations. Choose Swap A1 & A2. The A1 account using this method will get all of the orders and memberships on the household record.
If your system requires an address on all accounts you may need to go to the A2 Account and make sure that this account has an active address and that it is Primary.
Then go back to the Household and delete the Relationship between the A2 Account and the Household. This is the individual that will not have the orders and memberships, contributions from the household.
Then you can go to the Household and use the Household Operation “Convert to Individual” and choosing to “Merge this affiliate” into the household record.
This will leave you with two individual accounts when you had one household account.
You may wish to go to Associations an create a relationship between the former members of a household showing something like “Ex-Spouse”. If you do not have an association type that is appropriate contact your IT support folks.
Note if you are new to Version 12 you may also not have the security rights to make some of these changes. This would require someone with access to the Security module to give you access to the functions above.
If you continue to have trouble you may wish to reach out to the Network for either support or training.

When these come across my desk, I always ask who gets "custody" of the financial transaction - tickets and contributions. I make sure that person is A1.
Both names will need a primary address. If the address is inherited from the household record, you will have to create a primary address for the A2 name. If I don't have one, I use the inherited address and try to find out who got custody of the home address...not always easy to do.
Then you can Convert to Individual.
