Who is doing dynamic pricing? How is it working for you? Do your patrons like it?
Anybody who has anything to say about this, please let me know.
Thanks,
Liz
We just started dynamic pricing with our last show. It’s working well for us. I don’t think any patron has really noticed, and we haven’t gotten any complaints so far.

We’ve been doing it for about a year and half. No patrons have noticed. What we have done is stick to our published prices, but just re-assign seats that used to be lower priced to the next higher price for the hot shows. We’ve also gone the other way for low sales shows.

We just started using dynamic pricing on two of our recent popular shows. Patrons haven't really noticed because we advertise "tickets start at . . ." and we don't ever change the lowest price. The first time we used it we had one patron comment, “What are you the airlines now,” but then bought the tickets and left happy.
It can take a while to put in place for a show from the set-up side (depending on how you work it). We end one price map and begin a new one so that we retain historical data and are able to back date orders, if needed, to get the original price again. Because of the number of maps, differences in price by performance and the number of performances in a run, we aren't able to do any of this in mass so it takes time. We also don't change the base price indicator, because of reporting, and this does cause some issues with the availability tab in the product guide not displaying the availability by sections since technically the base price isn't an active price anymore, but we have found that to be more of an annoyance than truly a problem.
Overall, we have been very happy with the results and plan on continuing to use it on a case by case basis.
