Help with First Time Package Setup

We are using the package function for the first time. The documentation was very helpful and for the most part we have got everything set up the way we want it, however, we do want to be able to sell this package online. Our main issue is that I can't figure out how to suppress the price type when purchasing an individual show online. Does anyone have any pointers on how to sell one price type exclusive to single tickets on TNEW and another price type exclusive to the package?

  • That was my first thought. I know we can trigger MOS shifts using rankings and source codes but I'm not sure how to utilize multiple MOS for something like this. How do you set up these different MOS to sell these 2 different products at the same time?

  • Hi Jesse,

We accomplish this by have two separate MOS (Web and Web-Subscriber).  We also use different price types, Full and Subscription.  The Subscription price type is not available to the Web MOS, preventing the pricing from showing up in single ticket transactions.  Conversely the Full price is available to both the Web and Web-Subscriber MOS allowing patrons to purchase single tickets to events as well.  This way they're not limited to purchasing packages.

    Does that make sense?

    Thanks!

  • So, I'm assuming that your Web-Subscriber MOS is triggered with a MOS shift by ranking? This grants them access to the package with a discount price and the individual performances with the regular price. Wouldn't they be able to access the discounted price type from the single ticket purchase path and only buy one event with that special price?

Also, this is more of a rental series. So we wouldn't have a special ranking set up for certain patrons to renew and trigger a MOS shift. We would just want anyone interested to log onto the website. They could then click on an individual show and only have access to the regular price type. If they choose they could follow a link to the page listing the package information and then select however many packages they want and get the subscription price type.

Sorry if I seem confused. We don't utilize packages for our standard series.

  • Further to using 2 MOS for subs and single tickets, you might also look at using LTR_TN_EXPRESS_WEB_EXCLUDE_PT if patrons are able to add single performances to a cart containing a sub.  Entries here will prevent subs Price types appearing as available for use for single performances.

Also, you can give Price Types aliases in LTR_TNEW_ALIAS_PRICE_TYPE if that helps.

  • Not at all.  There is a setting in the LTR_TN_EXPRESS_WEB_DEFAULTS table that allows you to set a separate MOS for packages.  Here's some documentation that may be helpful.

We're not actually using any Rank based MOS shift, we're not using ranking at all at this stage.  But this setup allows us to sell Fixed and Flex packages on our TNEW site.

  • The easiest way is to have different modes of sale. You could have a Web-Season and Web-Single mode of sale and then associate the correct price types to each.
