Promo Code and Specific Segments

Hello Everyone - trying to do a little research on promo codes with only a select group of constituents being able to use it. We would like to set a promo code up for our junior board that gives them access to a discounted ticket. However, we only want that promo code to work on junior board members records and not anyone else for online purchases.

My questions is, is there a way to limit a promo code to a set group of constituents for web purchases and if so, what would that trigger be to give that constituent access to that discount and only that segment of constituents?

Thanks for your insight!!

  • You could promote the source code to your board list.  They would have to log in exactly with the username and password saved in Tessitura.  And it’s easy to track any transactions based on that source.

Sounds like you really want to use Rankings instead of a Promo Code.

Is your website highly customized ?

  • Just a quick note... using an inside source promoted to a group of constituents doesn't restrict other constituents from using that promo code if they have it. Even in a regular ticket order in the application, if the person inputting the order knows that source number they can simply enter it even if the constituent doesn't have it promoted to them. Having a source promoted as "inside" simply helps you track who specifically you sent the targeted offer to... not who can't have it.

I agree with Nicole that you would probably be best served by using Rankings.

  • Hi Beth -

Yes, I was trying out the source code way of doing this. I did notice that it did not restrict someones ability to purchase using that code who was not on that list.

I don't really have any experience with rankings. I'm going to read up on it, but is this something that you use or something that is complicated to set up?

  • Hi Allan,

Sadly, we are not using Rankings here at the ESO (yet...) so I don't have much to share. But hopefully some of TN's ranking gurus will see this post and send some help your way!
