On Account Funds

Our box office is interested in adding On Account funds for angry patrons.
Is this possible? Would we need a pool of money to draw from? Wouldn't it adversely effect our accounting?
Does your organization do something similar? Thanks for the input.

  • Are talking about have money to pay for customer complaints ?   If so  think what you would set up is a payment method with a General Ledger number as to where these costs are expensed.  There is no real pool of money needed – you are just assuming the cost internally.

  • We utilize “On Account” here but mainly for subscribers who exchange out of a performance and haven’t decided which new date they can attend. Are you looking to create something that would allow angry patrons to attend something else? You could try building a Customer Retention event and reserve them Comps in that performance. They could then exchange for a comp to something else at another time.

  • We use a comp price type and specific reason type to manage issues such as these so we can record them. For auditing reasons showing fake money we don’t have would be an issue.
Our comp report shows the dollar amount of any seat allocated and this goes out with performance finals to finance so all of this is tracked.
