Our consortium is moving toward a shared box office - selling tickets for multiple organizations at three separate venues - and the question has come up of how to handle printing tickets. For example, if the box office at venue 1 sells tickets to a performance at venue 2, should we have a separate printer with venue 2's ticket stock in order to print those tickets?
So... how are other organizations handling this?
Do you have multiple printers with ticket stock for each venue? Do you have one printer with generic stock? Is there a solution we haven't imagined?
Thank you for your insights!
My suggestion would be to have your consortium invest in ticket stock that can be used by all member organizations. We have thrown that idea around at our consortium as well. You could easily put all member organization information on the back of the ticket stock. You may be able to then drive down your overall cost of purchasing ticket stock. If you use Boca as your ticket stock provider, remember to tell them you use Tessitura as Boca provides a discount to Tessitura using organizations as well.
In the end, patrons have no idea what the “water mark” is that is burned over by the thermal printing. I think that organizations place too much concern on this image. That’s my two cents. J

It my organization, we sell for three other organizations. During period of September-April, we have the UMS season and the U-M School of Music, Theater and Dance season. We share ticket stock between these orgs. It's not the most exciting ticket stock as it's just one color but the info on the back covers both orgs. Then during the summer months, we sell for the Ann Arbor Summer Festival (A2SF). A2SF has different ticket stock. But at that time of the year, we can mostly switch all BOCAs over to that stock and when we need to print on other stock, we send the order to another BOCA (we have networked BOCAs).
So I'd recommend either shared stock or if that won't work, have networked BOCAs so that you can send a particular order to a specific BOCA with that ticket stock.
At our consortium, we use one (ours) ticket stock for everything sold at the main box office. Each organization has their own ticket stock that they use for season tickets or other orders that go through them (comp, company, artist, etc.) It works well and it makes it easier for us to visually identify how the tickets were purchased.

We use different stock. Walton Arts Center tickets for our other venues as well as our resident partners, and the Box Office staff switches out stock as needed. They do sometimes forget though, which leads to wasted stock. We are looking at getting double feeder BOCAs to help with this, but I don't foresee us moving to 1 stock anytime soon.
