Hi all,
We are considering a "Peel Back" fixed-seat subscription at the Theater. We offer 6 show reserved packages and are planning on offering a 5-show seated subscription to anyone who attended the first performance of the year but doesn't have a subscription yet.
The idea would be to allow them to pay our usual seated subscription price minus whatever amount they payed for their single ticket to the first show (with the incentive being a very cheap per show cost for the final 5 shows of the season).
I was wondering if anyone has done Peel Back pricing like this and what the best methods have been.
Thanks!
Hi Steven,
There are a few different ways to do what you're looking for. A couple of years ago I wrote up a quick pros and cons list for 3 of these options based on our business needs. We ended up going with choice 3.
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
1) 1) Create entirely new packages with smaller numbers of performancesPros: - Can be reported on as a unique entity- Can be sold onlineCons:- Potential for seating conflicts during rollover- Creating at least two packages for each series. 2) When packages are built they are set up as limited choice packagesPros:- Very little work to set up at the beginning of the season build and no change at all to package set up after rollover- No double seating issues during rolloverCons:- Can not report as a unique entity- Relies on the CSR to manually and accurately remove performances with each individual order- Package must be built this way from the start and remain this way to the end. Unable to change to or from this package type after rollover has happened.- Can not be sold online3) Delete performances from Performance Groups as they no longer apply to the packagePros:- Does not change order process for CSR- No deleting of performances by CSR so no chance of human error or misuse- Uses the same base seat map for the entire selling timeline so no chance of double seating issues at rollover- Very simple to do- Can be sold onlineCons:- Can not report as a unique entity
We've always set up our mini-packages (peel-offs) as completely new packages with the one less show. This allows us to track orders/subscribers easily. This also allows us to be able to roll orders over for renewal.
We never really have any issues with rollover as we rollover using the base map. Occasionally we'll have a problem but it's easy enough to handle on a case by case basis.
