Test/Live

Is anyone able to log into test and live at the same time?  I've asked around and have gotten conflicting answers.  I use both frequently and it's a pain to keep logging off one to log into the other. Thanks!

  • Yes, we are able to log into both at the same time with no issues. We frequently log into both when we’re testing while still needing to be available for sales calls, etc.  We are RAMP users, don’t know if that makes any difference.

  • The only way I know to be able to have two instances of Tessitura open on one workstation is to have Tessitura on your desktop and then to log into your terminal services through your desktop. It’s a bit cumbersome at times but that’s the only way I know to have both instances open or two have two live instances open.

  • Ellen,

Coincidentally this came up in the technical forum recently.  To open two instances of Tessitura, live and test or two lives or two tests you need to have different 'hosts' specified in the related ini files that are tied to rows in TX_MACHINE_LOCATION.  One other caution is to make sure that the title bar text and your constituent header clearly reflect what instance you are in so that especially when processing orders you are in the correct instance.  Every once in a while we hear of someone accidentally selling in Test when they did not mean to.

    Best,

    Anna

  • Hi Anna,

I know how to modify the title bar to reflect the different environs but I'm unfamiliar with doing it for the constituent header. Could you advise me or point to some documentation?

    Thanks, Michael

  • Michael,

There are a couple options depending on what header you are using.  As of v11 we introduced a standard Flex Header functionality in the application that is documented in the help system.  If you are using the flex header start there.  If not, you can have a look at the Custom Constituent Headers document.  In any case I like pulling the server name to decide if it is live and test with a case statement, that way you can have the same header for live and test.  Here is a basic select using the server name:

select case when @@SERVERNAME = 'System1' then 'LIVE'

    when @@SERVERNAME = 'system2' then 'TEST'

    ELSE 'Unknown'

    END

Give that all a try and see how it goes.  If you need a little guidance ping consulting@tessituranetwork.com and they can take a few minutes to have a look with you.

    Best,

    Anna
