Is it possible or is it a problem to change an existing seat to a non-seat or renumber the seats? We have a map that has a row in the pit. Typically this row is blacked out but has been used before. This row has 16 seats in it. The performance I am working on only requires 10 seats so I was thinking of changing 3 seats on both sides to non-seat or just re-numbering the available seats and black out the extra seats instead of making them a non-seat. My issue is if I leave it as is and just black out the last 6 seats, the available seats will no longer be centered in the SYOS seat map online. The other option is to leave as is, black out the first and last 3 seats. The problem with this is that the first seat starts with seat number 4 which may cause confusion. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Marty
Greetings Marty,
It is possible to change an existing seat to a non-seat and renumber in the Facility Manager, but potential issues are the ghosting of seats in which the seat number and row will still appear where the seat used to be in Tessitura and sometimes the seat will still show on the seat map. I don't know how these will affect your SYOS, but ours is Flash and would require a new map/extra programming to fix it were we to remove seats. If you still want to do this, simply remove the seats in Facility Manager, renumber like you would like, and run a Facility Update (if the show is already built).
Now, in my honest opinion, you should just use Holds. Yes, the first seat in the Row will start at 4, but it shouldn't pose a huge issue and your ushers can handle it.

Seats cannot be removed from existing performances (i.e. turned into non-seats) without assistance from support.
As Michael suggested, if these changes are temporary, black out holds are best.
