64-bit OS error

I am hoping someone out there can help me.  I have been trying to install Tessitura on a Vista 64-bit OS, and I keep coming up with the same errror message.  When I go to run Tessitura it successfully transfers the files to the impresario client folder, but then I get the following error

'The specified ini file 'c:\windows\system32\tessitura.ini' not found!'

Is there anyone who is successfully running Tessitura on a 64-bit machine that can give me some pointers as to why it is having this trouble, or clues about your setup.  Your knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Some things I have tried are:

I have confirmed the location of this file over and over again, and copied the file over every way I know how.   I have set security to allow everyone to have full control on this file.  I have disabled UAC, and run I have tried loading impresario client folder on the program files and the program files(x86) folder with the same results.

I have also tried to load this on a 64-bit Vista OS, a 64-bit Winodws 7 OS, and a 64-bit 2003 Server OS with the same error message resulting with all 3.

We just finished a virtualization project and now we are trying to migrate towards terminal services and our termianl server is a 64-bit OS so we'd like to have this working  to start the migration.

Any past experience or kind pushes in the right direction would be appreciated.  Thank you!

  • Hi Cathy,

Did you ever get this resolved? If not, here's something I've run into. On 64-bit versions of Window OSes, for some reason having the ini file in the /system32 directory doesn't work. Make a new directory (c:/tessituraini (or something)) and put tessitura.ini in there, then reference the new directory in any relevant shortcuts or paths.

We had this issue at an installation I was working on and this resolved it. 64-bit Windows just would NOT find the ini file in c:/Windows/system32.

    Hope this helps!

I recently ran into this problem as well.

Windows Vista 64-bit has 2nd form of "C:\Windows\System32" folder called:

    C:\Windows\SysWOW64

If you put the tessitura.ini file in that directory too, if should work.

  • Just inserting my 2 cents here and this is only an opinion but why not put the ini in the Tessitura application folder.  That is the accepted convention for windows programs.  In fact Microsoft standards say that application INI files should not be placed in the system folders.  We keep ours in in the Tess application folder.  That way I can just run the Tessitura_start batch file and the ini is copied down along with the rest of the program.  The only exception we have to this rule is users who run multiple instances of Tessitura at the same time.  For them we create a second INI in the root of C:.  I know I shouldn't put it there either but I didn't really want to create a second folder just to hold the INI.
