Upgrading network - recommendations

I would like ot know if there is a "recommended" hardware structure for Tessitura for v11 and forward. We are looking at upgrading our environment to support v11, and I would appreciate hearing from others that are running consortiums on how they have built out their racks. In our environment we have physical separate servers for each "component"; Live, Test, CC Server. I know a large number of organizations virtualize now, so what all are you including in your virtualized servers? Are you putting Live, Test and CCServer all in one machine? Are you running 64bit on clients as well? I appreciate all brain dumps. Thanks! Randy

We also have our servers virtualized, and have four physical Dell servers.  We have Tess Live virtualized on the first physical server, along with three other apps servers that are non-Tess related.  We have Tess Test virtualized on the second physical server, along with our Tess Web Server, and a domain controller.  On our third physical server, we have the Tess Seat/Report server virtualized, as well as the Transcend credit card server, and three other smaller non-Tess app servers.  Our fourth physical server is used to maintain backups of the other 3 physical servers.

I echo Kjertsen’s thoughts below regarding Tessitura and 64-bit clients.  I myself have Tess running on my 64-bit Windows 7 platform pc and it works fine for me because I do not use the ticketing aspect at all.  When we purchased new all-in-one computers for our ticket office this Spring, which shipped with 64-bit Windows 7, they all had problems with the ticketing functions, specifically the price type drop down menus.  As soon as I reinstalled them with 32-bit Windows 7, all worked fine.

Please let me know how you virtualized your hardware/servers/apps in the virtual environment.

I have the hardware requirements, but looking for roadmap on distribution of servers.

    Hi Randy,

We've got Tessitura 100% virtualized and have been since we went live in 2008 with no issues.  We've been running 4 HP servers that house somewhere around 40-60 (maybe more) virtual servers but are in the process of converting to a new Cisco UCS.  If you want any more details on set-up let me know and I can hit up our network folks for answers.

We do have some end users on 64 bit machines and Tessitura generally runs without a hitch, but we've kept anyone who uses the Ticket Orders screen a lot on 32 bit as we've found a few bugs here and there (mainly with the price type drop down menus if I remember right).

  • Penny,

which Dell servers did you go with?  I am looking at the R610 currently.
