Credit Card Processing

We have had problems with credit card processing during our last three big on sales. This past week Elton John went on sale and we had 7000 simultaneous hits on our web site. Transcend and the Tessitura CC server was not able to handle the volume. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you resolve it?

  • Thank you,

I’m interested in hearing more about this. How much did it cost? How many simultaneous hits did it allow? What is your server configuration?

I did make several software timing changes recommended by a developer at the last Tessitura convention. I’m somewhat optimistic that will reduce timeouts during a major on-sale.

Thank you again for responding. I look forward to receiving your reply.

    Hi,

We implemented a waiting room landing page (dev. by POP.us), which has a customisable threshold and capacity and allows us to control the number of simultaneous users on the site. A brilliant example of how well it worked was our BBC Proms on-sale, which went smoothly, despite many thousands of hits (over 70 shows on-sale at the same time).

  • Hi,

We set the limit of concurrent users in the waiting room to 7000, after which the users would hit a que-cap message informing them that the waiting room was full. Those who made it through the waiting room formed our concurrent users count on the website, which was set to around 250. As far as I know, we are running 2 load-balanced servers for the site and the waiting room on a separate one.

I'm afraid I can't mention costs, but judging by what you are saying, it could potentially be a solution to your on-sale problem.
