Autosized rows in Infomaker sometimes appear cut off

Hey, everybody! We have an issue with Infomaker text fields that are set to autosize height. Often, they will be cut off -- the last row of text (no matter how many rows the field ends up needing) will have the bottoms of the letters missing. Sometimes just the very bottom so you can still tell what it says, other times most of the letters are gone so you can't read it.

This happens more often than not. Sometimes it's different when you save as a PDF or print, other times it isn't. Sometimes one person will have the issue, and then another person looking at the same report won't. But it's not like there are people or machines that never have the issue. Right now I've just made a report where I am seeing this issue to the point that the line is unreadable, and Margaret ran the report and had the full line of text -- but normally Margaret has the issue on most reports that have an autosized field.

Anyone have any ideas at all?

  • OK. further info. I found this forum on the site for the company that makes InfoMaker.

    http://search.sybase.com/kbx/changerequests?bug_id=151507

The issue is described in that page, and the answer from the company is:

“PER DEVELOPMENT: Works as designed, print preview shows the printer dimensions which don't translate exactly to screen units.”

So basically they’re saying, “woah woah woah, you wanted to look at this thing on a SCREEN? You crazy. This is for printing, not screen-viewing.”

Sybase stopped supporting the version of Infomaker we use on December 26, 2008. It stopped supporting the version after the version we use in July 2010. The world has moved on. So there’s no chance of making them fix it. Basically, it is broken and there’s nothing we can do about it.
