Usher list with barcodes?

I'm hoping you Tessitura gurus can help me out!  We sell our ushers into performances and with our previous system had a report that would generate a list of all the ushers signed up for that days performance that we could hand to house management to keep track of attendance.   However, we'd have to then manually go in and track who didn't show up.  We'd like to get away from that manual entry and I know some organizations print out tickets for their ushers and scan them, but Jonathan Smillie mentioned that there were some organizations who print the barcodes on a list that house management could then scan when the ushers check in.  Does anyone have a custom report like this that they'd be willing to share with us?

Thanks!

  • Hi Christina,

I can’t point you to a custom report, but I think it would be relatively easy to do this using batch ticket printing.  If you batch print the usher tickets but instead of printing the tickets you save them to a data only file, you could then mail merge the file into something you lay out in Word.  You would have to convert the ticket number to a bar code in Word, which will required downloading a bar code font (though you’ll have to do this anyway if you create a custom report).  Check out the Bar Codes document for some tips on printing bar codes outside of Tessitura.  I suppose this might be a few more steps than a custom report (batch print then merge each night), but it is probably easier to set up than creating a custom report.

  • Thanks for the suggestion!  That might be a bit more work everyday, but it should do for now.

  • I've been searching, and maybe I'm missing it right in front of me, but how does one print to file? I read the ticket printing doc, which said that it's possible, but I didn't see any instructions on how.
