With all of the concern about storing personal data, I am wondering how other Tessitura organization are handling old constituent records that have had no activity in the last 5 or X number of years.
Are you purging them? What is the criteria you are using.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
I originally wanted to purge but we ran into some challenges with that so we decided to inactivate old records instead of purging them. It's been interesting to see how many of these inactive records are coming up as duplicates and needing to be reactivated and merged.
I know we have a significant number of customers who purchase on very irregular schedules like that. I was one before I started working here! The data we have is pretty low-stakes stuff, unless user passwords are somehow cracked, which shouldn't be possible. If we had more significant data I'd certainly consider purging that (as we do for payment card tokens). Although we don't have a specific policy, we have cleared out long-unused logins in the past.
We did a deceased append recently and marked the records as inactive and then need to activate them for merges and for planned giving. What was the date of last activity you used to inactivate these constituents.?.
Anyone who hadn't had activity since we converted to Tessitura (so nothing since Jan 2017).
