Appending Data services

Hi Tess Users-

I am looking for information on Data Appending services. Such as what company did you go with and what services are you using them for (Demographic info; Financial info; Education level; etc). In addition - how did you bring the data in and out from Tess?

Thank you in advance for any specific information you can share.

  • Hi Jessica,

We use Experian and add the information to existing Constituent records as Attributes for anyone they can match to their data points.  We append for date of birth, year of birth (we add this as 01/01/YEAR), presence of children in age ranges 0-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-18 and generally 0-18, ethnicity, race and religion.  We use the information primarily for analysis. Currently we are doing an append every two years.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • Hi Melissa and Charles,

Just curious on how you think the quality of the information was that you received back? Did you find it helpful/useful? Or was it outdated/not accurate? Was there any specific ways you "tested" the data that was sent back to you to measure how useful it was to use their services?

    Thanks again,

    Jessica

  • I find Peachtree to be pretty accurate. We determine this through cross-referencing other data like self reported birthdays, or knowing that there are children in the home because they are members of the youth orch, and through WealthEngine information. I'm sure there are some inaccuracies, but for the most part the information seems correct and it's helpful when we are targeting certain patrons for performances or specials or for writing grants.
