We are seeing membership records with inconsistencies whereby a Merge or convert cust type puts the state of the data in a way that cannot be reported on with accuracy. We would like to put in a job or infiltrate the Merge Process to resolve and basically recalculate all memberships to ensure the data is consistent with reporting needs.
I don't suppose anyone has advice or code as a jumping off point.
Many thanks

Hi Julie,
I am also noticing issues whereby the membership Amount and AVC are not automatically recalculating when an adjustment is made (such as a refund of a contribution). Although the Recalc button is there for an operator to force this, it seems there is no way to trigger a 'refresh' across the whole membership database to re-establish a logical equilibrium between the contributions and the membership values.
So I'd also be interested in hearing about any ways people may have overcome this.
Thanks
Dale

Unless it's changed recently, or possibly a long-forgotten customization in our system: if the recognition amount is manually set, which I think technically includes a simple stray click in the recognition amount field, then it locks out future automatic updates. I understood this is intended to facilitate "honorary" membership recognition not being refigured every time an honored member makes a small additional donation. Doesn’t the “Membership Update Utility” in reports update this data?

Hi John,
Yes I understand that the system does not touch the Recognition amount field after it initially populates it, for the reasons you state. I am referring to the other 2 fields: Amount and AVC, which are not manually editable and are system driven. I am looking for a way to nudge the system to recalc them in bulk, because there are circumstances where the system is failing to do if for us.
cheers

Just to be clear, the Membership Update Utility does not update any data in a Membership record other than the Status and whether or not the row is current.
This is the documentation on what it does and how to use it:
