Off-site connection to Tessitura

Hi,

We need to setup an off-site workstation with Tessitura LIVE and a Boca printer to sell tickets and gift certificates. The location is not on our network. Is anyone using terminal services or Citrix for Tessitura?  We also need to know how to setup the Boca.

Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

We use MS Terminal Services exclusively for our Tessitura users here. When we recently had an off site show that we needed box office presence we sent them with a laptop, a VPN connection and a BOCA printer connected to the laptop. It worked as planned. The one caveat I will throw out there is you'll probably need a converter for your BOCA connection to go from a parallel or serial connector to a USB. Many laptops now a days don't come with parallel or even serial ports anymore.

The other thing to remember is security (both physical and network) and be sure that your equipment (esp the laptop) is safely locked up or taken back with you every night.

  • Hi

I use remote desktop to work from home with Tessitura (and anything else on our company central drive)

When we need to operate an offsite box office we use a lap top, connect (using wireless) via remote desktop and have the Boca set up as a remote printer.

  • Same topic, supplementary question: What are PCI-related concerns related to connecting to Tessi via RDP only, and wireless as well? Does the standard Microsoft remote desktop rdp suffice, or does there need to be increased encryption and security with a separate VPN? I think WPA satisfies for wireless, but I could be mistaken.

We also use several laptops, aircards, and mini-Boca’s via USB when we have remote venues. Works well.

  • Has anyone had to have a remote box office at a location that didn't necessarily have its own power? Like a site-specific show in a field or something?  I figure extra batteries for the laptops, but what to do with the boca?
