Hi all,
I was not really involved in the initial configuration of transcend but now am responsiblefor configuring new users. I've browsed the user guide and webinars and want to confirm a couple things before I set them up.
I see that I've got admin privilege groups already created and assigned to each merchant. If I want to configure some users to only have the browser options for use do I simply create another privilege group for each merchant and deselect the other options?I feel like this is what is suggested but then I saw or heard something stating that merchants use privilege groups to dictate their rights as well and I don't want to screw anything up.Maybe I heard incorrectly. Also I believe I heard in a webinar that once you configure something you need to start and stop all servers, is this true when adding new privilege groups and users?
Cheers!
What you are describing is exactly what I did. I set up a “reports only” privilege group for each merchant and gave the users access to that privilege group only.
I always pause, then stop and restart the servers whenever I make a Transcend configuration change, just for good measure.

Now excuse my ignorance about things like these but any idea if it is ok to set these up and then schedule a time to start and stop the servers so that it doesn't interfere with transactions coming in or do you need to be sure to start and stop them right away?
I mainly ask because before reading the bit about starting and stopping the servers I had created a new user and have yet to start and stop them and I may also need to collaborate with my outsourced IT department to do this.
I'm pretty sure I've added a user to Transcend midday without stopping and starting the servers, without incident.
There’s no way to schedule them. If you pause the servers, and allow them to go inactive, they will finish processing any transactions already in the queue, but not allow any new transactions to proceed. Then, you can quickly stop and start the servers, and you won’t “lose” any transactions mid-stream. The only possible issue would be if a rep has trouble processing a new card during the few minutes that the servers may be down.
That said, why not try adding a new user and privilege group and see if you can log in under that user without restarting the servers. Might not be necessary to do so…

Thanks Kirk and Amanda.
Any idea if not having the ability to login is the only issue for not starting and stopping the server?
Just added the groups, users and restarted the servers, all seems to be well.
Thanks all!
