Any Tableau Users in the house?

Hello all,

Are there any organisations using Tableau?

We've had a keen eye on their products for a little while, observing how it will better serve our organisation while complimenting T-Stats and the like to provide better informed business intel. The idea of connecting all data sources (impresario, Mail2, Google Analytics, excel) into one platform is looking pretty attractive to me.

Would love to hear any thoughts around this topic!

Ciao, Aaron.

  • We have considered this however implementation costs seem very high. We are looking at power BI suite from Microsoft right now. Power pivot, power query, power view, power map. This mostly comes with office 365.

  • Hi Aaron,

We've started some tentative steps with Tableau.  My initial findings are that it's quite powerful and easy to link to Tessitura data although, as Tom points out, it might be an expensive undertaking to roll it out around the organisation.

As you say, it has been quite good for linking multiple data sources together and creating some great interactive visualisations.

Give me a shout if you have any further questions.

We've discussed it, and I played with it on a trial basis. I definitely see potential for it to be useful but ultimately I couldn't get it into my budget. I'd definitely love to hear if anybody ends up doing great things with it.

  • I've opened a group here on TessituraNetwork.com for the discussion of Self Service BI issues.

Folks interested in this topic may find that group of some interest.

  • Hi Aaron,

We've been using Tableau for a year now. Mostly for sales tracking but also for survey data visualisation. At the moment it's not integrated with Tessitura but we're working on it.

    Thanks,

    Thanos

  • Hey Thanks Graeme, so have you also considered their Cloud product? Rather than install the desktop version? Aaron.

  • Hey thanks Thanos. What data source are you using? Are you importing data using excel? Are you also using T-Stats & RMA? When you say you are working on it, are you working on a project to integrate Tessitura fully? If so, how have you prepared the data/tables etc.. do you prepare the data into cubes much like T-Stats? Thanks Thanos.

  • Hi Aaron,

Yeah, I think their Cloud product is the route we'll take.  As I say, we're tentatively playing around with Tableau at the moment, and finding time to really explore the capabilities is proving something of a challenge at the moment.

Are you any closer to starting using Tableau?

  • Hi Aaron,

Yes, we are using excel to import data. I have started the conversations with IT to integrate Tessitura and I hope we will move forward with this soon but I don’t think they’ve started preparing the data yet. We are using T-stats but not the RMA. An alternative would be to integrate T-stats data warehouse with Tableau. Not entirely sure which route we’re going to follow.

    Thanks,

    Thanos
