Is anyone currently running Tessy v12 paired with Transcend v2? If so, I am curious about your experience with it in terms of any issues you might be experiencing. I emailed Transcend support regarding compatibility (given the recent announcement that Transcend v2 would no longer be supported as of December 2014). Per the reply, Transcend recommends going to v3:
Although version 2 is compatible with version 12 we have had some issues crop up that we do not encounter with version 3. For this reason ( and the fact that version 2 is being depreciated at the end of the year) we are urging our customers to migrate to version 3.
And when asked for more detail on these issues:
We experienced connectivity issues between the Payment Gateway and Transcend under various loads that could not be explained. At other times transactions would not make it completely through the systems. All errors were sporadic in nature and went away with version 3.
While we have not noticed this connectivity issue in either our Dev or Test environments, it is cause for concern given a Production environment has real traffic and periods of high load. It seems like the v3 update might be a necessity.
Thoughts?
Hi Jason,
We are also on Transcend v2 and are planning an upgrade to 12.1 in 10 days. Are you on 12.0 or 12.1? Can you give me an idea what volume of transactions you are seeing when these connectivity issues occur? I am reluctant to upgrade to Transcend v3 because it requires setting up all of our merchants (30+ again), especially since we are likely going to Element before the end of year anyway.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience. It is very timely for us!

We just upgraded to 12.1 last Monday. As part of the upgrade process, the credit card server was automatically shifted from Intrix (TranScend) to Element. Since the shift to Element is baked in as part of the upgrade, it took the discussion of Intrix vs Element off the table.

We are not actually on v12 in Production yet (just our test environments), but planning on our upgrade in 1.5 weeks to 12.0.3. I had the brilliant idea to email Transcend support regarding v2 given they are ending support end of year and we are also planning on moving to Element. Said email is what revealed that they have had reports regarding those issues. =)
We were on Transcend v2 and decided to move to Element before our v12 upgrade last month. A past Transcend upgrade gone-wrong combined with the inevitability of Element made the decision for us simple. It technically very easy to do and the paperwork process can go pretty quickly too. For perspective, our consortium has six different organizations processing cards, some having multiple merchant accounts. 1.5 weeks would be pushing it, but it’s do-able. I would recommend at least beginning the conversation with Element.
Good Luck!
Dave

Just to clarify, the upgrade for the Phoenix Symphony was performed in their Test environment and part of the process for RAMP clients is to transition credit card processing for their test environment to the new Element platform so they can become familiar with the process. It is not directly tied to v12.1 but rather the method the hosted environment performs in preparation for the transition to Element as the Transcend model is being phased out. Cutovers to Element are performed only in Production when licensees are prepared for the switch from Transcend and can occur before or after upgrading to the most current release of Tessitura.
At what point will the Transcend model be completely phased out of Tessitura?
We have no current plans or timeline to stop supporting Transcend for North American locally hosted organizations (or Canadian RAMP organizations). For RAMP organizations in the US only, we are requiring a switch to Element by July 1, 2015 and this has been communicated to those organizations. New product features around payment processing, including tokenization planned for release in North America with v12.5, will be developed with the Element Payment Services platform in North America.
