Hello everyone,
We have a number of educational projects that are set up as performances in Tessitura. We're looking for a way of being able to run a report that will effectively null print all the tickets for a performance and pull the NScan numbers through to a report so we can scan to track attendance.
Has anyone else done this? What do I need to call to 'fool' Tessitura into thinking a ticket has been printed and provide me with the ticket / NScan number?
Thanks everyone for your help.

Hi Graeme
I think I know what you're after. You want to print the tickets in Tessitura so they are marked as printed, but not actually put them on paper? We don't use NScan, so I'm not sure where the reference number will come from, someone else will need to jump in here
Couple of ways to mark as printed:
1. Pause (in windows printers) the ticket printer. Print to that printer then clear the queue
2. Create a new printer with the Generic/Text Only driver which prints to port FILE:
I would go for option 1 as you don't need to set anything up. Option 2 involves setup and will prompt you for each print job for a file location, but you will have your output in text format, which could potentially have your NSCAN ref number.
Hope it helps halfway.

You can setup a NULL printer. That is pretty easy. But if you want to kill two birds with one stone I would recommend the following. You can print the bar codes in word. First thing you need to obtain a 128 barcode plugin. Dobson software is the one we use. Batch ticket print all and save to file for the select performance. You will have to change a couple things the XLS file. Create a mail merge in word and convert to barcode. Then scan away. If you interested to see a sample or would like more information shoot me an email.

Thanks Travis and Wayne,
That’s really useful. What I was really looking for, however, was a way of incorporating that into the report so it’s a single step process for the project leaders. What we’d want the report procedure to do is ‘print’ all the tickets for a performance and then output all the NScan/ticket numbers to the report so we can print all the barcodes onto the register.
It would be great to miss out the extra batch printing set if at all possible.
I think you'd still have to "batch print" at some point to keep that functionality (maybe you can call those standard procedures from a custom procedure). But you may be able to use a custom SSRS version of the "Tickets Printed Report" utilizing the correct font/barcode for NScan if you want to make the second part of your process easier...just a thought.
We've tumbled around this idea for awhile, but have yet to implement it. Interested to see what you work out...
Beth
Thanks Beth,
Yes, I’ll have a go and see if I can get a procedure to force run a batch print as that might be the simplest way.
I’ll let you know how I get on.
Hi Graeme,
Have you run a trace on the database when you print a ticket to find out what procedures are firing? You can then investigate those to find out what tables are being updated and update those same tables in your custom code.
I'm not sure how the barcode is generated, but would be great to find out!
Thanks Wayne,
