Identifying first-time ticket buyers

Hi group brain!

Is there a way I can easily identify which constituents in a given performance are first-time ticket buyers? IE, those with no prior purchase history?

Thanks,

Blair

  • I love the idea of a widget with a formula but am a newbie when it comes to using them.  When I attempt to create the widget, I’m getting an error message about Constituent ID.  What type of widget did you use?  Would you mind sending me a screenshot of your widget?

  • Hi Elizabeth,

I've got a screenshot for you below of the widget (which includes lots of other information that I use for concert wrap up) - sorry, had to redact the actual numbers.

Let me know if there's a specific part of the widget you need expanded on!

This is the dashboard I use with this widget - I think if you change the data source to your "seats and tickets" cube you should be able to copy it or modify it for your use!

  • Nicola,

Thanks for sharing your dashboard. Also looking to get this in Analytics so really helpful.

I have imported into our Analytics environment but for all productions seasons I check am getting zero values for the "First Time Buyers", "% new audience" or "First Time Tickets" columns.

Other columns are populating with data as I would expect. The formula for these columns also looks fine compared to your screengrab above. Any ideas for what might be causing this?

No worries if not as I can do some more digging and if needed raise with Tess.

    Thanks, Donald

  • I don't know if this is what you're running into, but in this bit...

...for a Days Difference function, both fields should be "Days in..." level. Change the Years in First Performance Date to Days in First Performance Date.

  • Hi Chris,

Thanks for the suggestion but still coming up as zero. Is there anything else I can try? If not no worries - I can bring up with our ES contact.

    Thanks, Donald

  • Hi Donald,

Sorry you're having issues! I cobbled this together using a variety of past threads here on the forum, so unfortunately I don't completely understand the formula!

Sometimes when I download other people's dashboards, I find I have to put each field in again for some reason (so deleting [Days in date] and then selecting it again from the list)

Hope you get it sorted out!

  • No worries - thanks again for sharing. Even without it sharing, really helpful to have a place to start.

I have tried re-adding the data elements but still not returning anything. Might be something to do with my filters. I will look at again with some colleagues - I'm sure we will get their evenetually!

    Thanks again, Donald

  • Hi-
This worked great at my old job. Now I've carried it over to a new job, and here's the message I get. Any ideas on what causes this?

  • Hi Nicola!

This dashboard is fantastic. Thanks for sharing it with the community. I had imported this dashboard and was using the "WIP stats - includes comp tickets" widget when I noticed that the First Time Tickets column doesn't add up properly. When I change it to subtotal by "sum" rather than auto, the math works out. I'm wondering if you noticed that, and if you know the reason why it's giving a different sum when set to "auto"? Perhaps it's not doing that for you?

To anyone who sees this, any idea as to how you can make an indicator widget subtotal by the sum? When I try to put the "First Time Tickets" value into an indicator, it shows the "auto" subtotal, rather than the actual "sum". Again, maybe this is not happening to anyone else.

Any help is appreciated, as always! Thanks in advance.
