Rearranging Columns in Pivot Tables

Hi All!

*Updating this to avoid the confusion*

Just a simple question, but does anyone know how (if you can at all) to rearrange the column order in a pivot table? In the photo below i'd like to have "Gold Circle" be listed first. These all come from the same field, so rearranging the fields doesnt apply in this instance.

Best,

Brian

  • In your data/values window to the left where you add your values/rows to the widget, simply stack them in the order you want them to appear left to right by dragging and dropping them above/below each other. Just click and hold, then hover above or below and release. It will indicate where it will fall during the hovering process.

  • Hi Brian,

You can rearrange any of your criteria on a pivot table by dragging and dropping it to where you want to move it. You can even move from columns to rows until you get the information to appear like you want.

I hope this tip makes sense because it’s a little hard to explain. I’ve found this to be a little finicky – you’ll try to move it and it’ll snap back to its original place. I’ve found that placing the criteria at the bottom of the list and then moving up works well. A gray box will also appear before you drop the criteria. Screenshot included.

  • Hi Brian,

In the widget update, on the left side you can rearrange the order within rows or values or columns sections (click and drag) but I haven't found a way to move the value to the front of the rows section.

  • Michael and Nicole are right when it comes to dealing with Values or anything on the left pane. I had a similar issue as you, however, where I was dealing with Seasons. I ended up renaming the Seasons because it appears that they just appear alphabetically. Not the best solution, but I was dealing with Gallery admission changing to Admission, to get it to the front so it wasn't a big deal.

  • Ahh, sorry i should have specified. The column headers (A Price, B Price, C Price, D Price and Gold Circle) are all coming from the same Field. So is there a way to rearrange their order if they come from the same field?

  • Hi Brian,

Have you tried adding Zone Rank?

Zone group Rank might be better in your example

  • Thanks, Heath! That's a nice little hack to get it the way I need.
