V. 11 Staff Training Manual?

Hello-

I am trying to put together a little "how to" training manual for the ticket office staff about the changes they will see in Version 11.  I was wondering if anyone out there has already composed something like this and would be willing to share it?

Something like "In Version 10 it worked this way", "In Version 11 it works this way" OR just the basics of entering a household record vs an indivudal record; things to look out for and update in records in V.11; definitions of new terminology

Thanks,

Jessica Kalinski

  • Hi Jessica,

The What’s New in v11 document might be what you want, or at least be a good start for creating what you want.  You can find it here:

  • Hi Jessica,

I've uploaded two of my training files onto my profile on the Tessitura site.  One is called "V11 Cheat Sheet" - I made it during last year's conference when I was trying to keep track of stars, primary affiliation types, inheritance, etc.  The other is "Searching and Name Changes in V11."  It was written for a staffer of mine who does best with very specific, detailed directions.  So it doesn't compare V10 to V11, but it does set out the steps necessary to search or change names if you have a lot of Name 2s in your database, as we do.

I have found even within our organization that, unsurprisingly, different people need different kinds of documentation and training materials.  So please feel free to edit these to your heart's content to work for your group.  Hope they are useful!

  • Jessica,

Something that might be worth looking into is creating some training videos , mainly screen recordings of procedures.

  • Jessica,

A quick way to do a screen recording is to use Jing from TechSmith.  The software is free.  You will need a microphone on your computer.  You are limited to 5 minutes with this software.  However, you can make a bunch of short recordings.
