We here, on our custom reporting, tend to display a name any time we report on an organization. So we would display the organization name plus the V10 Name2. Obviously this thought process does not work with V11. I am wondering how others solve this issue? I originally thought that I would use the affiliation of “Primary Contact” but this does not work since I am allowed to have multiple primary contacts for one record. Any ideas how I can attach a single name to an organizational record for reporting purposes?
Thanks,
Hi Marty,
There isn't a way to enforce this type of practice with system processes, but you can establish a business practice that says that the Primary Contact affiliation type can only be used once per organization record. And then maybe as users get used to the new practices you can run reports to check up on the data entry. My instinct is that this business practice should be pretty easy to follow as organization records are added less frequently and when they are added it's usually by staff who take the time to be careful about data entry standards.

You can still set your business practice so that the Primary Contact affiliation type can only be used for one affiliation to an organization. There really isn’t a way to enforce the kind of limit you want through system processes.

Thanks Kevin, I will present this to our Tessitura Governing Board and see what they think.
