Does anyone have experience with assigning a new comp membership to a record which is currently in a lapsed membership phase? It is not letting me assign another membership in the same organization even though the expired date is reached. Curios if anyone has found a work around.
Hi Beth,
Thanks for your response! You are precisely right, the memberships in question are in their "lapsed" phase. I am not sure if our membership department would want a phase of 0, something to at least consider.
We also discussed the possibility of simply extending the current membership. My fear is having to do this multiple times, creating Frankenstein, pieced together looking membership records. We also considered opening up the membership fields in these campaigns of question - but that seems to be opening a can of worms for later.
I hope your colleague's ticket works, it is very frustrating!
Thanks again for your input - Dana
This is great, thanks everyone! I feel like I have great options to bring to the table now!
Best,
Dana

Hi Dana,
Depending on your rules for your NRR status you could Deactivate the existing lapsed membership and then you should be able to add a new comp membership.
Another option!

We run into that same issue. Because we don’t want to change our lapsed rules (as situations like this are rare for us), we just deactivate the lapsed membership and then add the new one. You can do this by going into the membership detail screen of the lapsed membership on the constituent record and at the bottom there will be a button for deactivation.
