Triggered Emails - DPA

Hello

For anyone that's using Triggered eCampaigns to send customer service emails, I was wondering how you manage the unsubscribe process from these communications?

We are planning to send automated pre-performance reminder and post-performance feedback emails to our customers, but would like to do this outside of our “Marketing DPA” values.

So, if a customer has previously unsubscribed from our marketing e-newsletter, they would still get a pre-performance reminder email (but can also unsubscribe from this separately).

Customer service communications seem to be a fairly grey area in data protection land, so any advice/guidance on this would be a great help. We use WordFly, which doesn’t currently support multiple unsubscribe paths, but I am told it will in the near future.

Thanks very much
James

  • Hi

We have set these options up as interests.

For the unsubscribes we have setup specific urls which we can then add to LP_UPDATE_EMAIL_PROMOTION such that for instance

    if @response_code = 4 and @url = 'http://www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/unsubscribe_ntnews' we then set the tkw selected flag to N

We handle the distinction with messaging. Here's what appears at the bottom of all our emails:

"We only want you to receive information you're interested in. To no longer receive emails like this, take a moment to update your account: Update your email preferences

To be removed from ALL San Jose Rep emails: Unsubscribe"

The Update your email preferences links to our TNEW Update Your Interests Page where they can select the type sof emails they woudl like to receive (marketing, pre/post show emails, invitations, discounts, etc)

The Unsubscribe link unsubscribes them from our email list.

This has been working out so far for us. Not too many people have indicated confusion over this and I do have more people clicking on the update preferences link than the unsubscribe link.
