Extraction/Segmentation Criteria: Never a Member

We are new users, we just launched with Tessitura (v16) earlier this month.  Can anyone please share extraction (now called segmentation) criteria they have used to pull constituents who have never been a member?  Thanks.

  • Hi Melissa,

Since you're working in a segmentation set, you can use suppression segments to your advantage here.

Create a segment with criteria to find all members. A good one to use is Membership Level (in the Membership History category) and select all levels in your system. It's also common to go to the Advanced Relationship Options and select "Replace individual constituents with household and add all primary affiliates." Then turn on the Suppression Segment toggle on the segment.

Then you can add additional segments to the set that identify the constituents who should be in the mailing. This might be criteria like recent ticket purchases, or a constituency like in Christina's example. Because you suppressed all previous members in your suppression segment, these later segments will only be constituents who've never been a member.
