Roll up, roll up - who's using contact permissions and would you care to share your setup?
We are migrating to Contact Permissions and in looking around, it seems there are two approaches: a top-level channel approach and then a more granular approach.
Some questions for you:
The cleanest way I have scoped out would be a mix of contact permissions alongside contact point purposes.
Contact Permissions: mail, email, phone (and anything else)Contact Point Purpose: specific opt-ins for example monthly enewsletter, donor comms etc
FWIW we're on TNEW and use Wordfly. So TNEW's Contact Permissions plug-in would ask the top-level permission during checkout, and Wordfly would be linked with contact point purposes to allow our audience to select their preferences.
Please share your setup! I'm keen to hear how others are doing it. Especially you folk in the EU who have gone through a lot of rethinking here because of GDPR.
Cheers,
dgh
- very glad you posted about this, I'm also interested in how others are setting up Contact Permissions. I'm in the process of setting this up for City Recital Hall and actually looked at Melbourne International Arts Festival as a model. Also have just caught up on your TLCC Contact Point Prefs slides, and am now considering your configuration for Co-Presenters!
Overall, we're mostly using Contact Permissions to manage email contact points, and using Interests to cover the genres of performance our constituents are interested in (used for more granular segmentation). The options for mail and phone will still be there, but as we don't really communicate with patrons through these channels, this would mostly be a manual function.
Similarly for event presenters, we'll only manage email contact points and include a prompt within the TNEW purchase path.
Would be interested in seeing how others have configured this too, and how it's made an impact.
