Moved from Mail2 to WordFly?

Has anyone moved over to WordFly since the Mail2 "upgrade"? We are still experiencing problems with Mail2 and I'm interested in speaking with someone who has changed platforms. Thanks!

  • Quick question for everyone on this. It’s my understanding that Mail2 manages accounts at the individual email level whereas WordFly works at the constituent level. Does anyone see any issues switching from one to other?

We are moving to WordFly starting with the new fiscal year. If you are considering it, they have a recorded webinar that describes the Tessitura integration. There are scheduled campaigns. It is a different method of creating these as you use lists/extractions and output sets to pull the custom data you want. Regarding the cost, Wordfly rates are significantly lower.

I'm interested to know this as well. We are also frustrated with the "upgrade" and the only thing holding me back from moving to another platform is cost and I also don't want to lose the ability to send automated campaigns like our pre- and post-performance emails. I was looking at MailChimp, but from what I can tell we would need to write our own custom integration.

  • I'd be curious to know everyone's thoughts on this too, we're strongly considering the switch to wordfly and the biggest thing I'm starting to digest is the different integration styles between the two products.

I like Mail2 from a database perspective, but functionally my staff dislike it, and their templates leave something to be desired.

Did your org decide to make the switch or stay with Mail2? We have a demo/call with Wordfly on Friday and I'm trying to get feedback from users (especially those that switched from Mail2)!

  • We decided to stay with Mail2...in part because of our previous experience with Wordfly, in part because switching costs are always more painful than anticipated, and in part because we had just hired someone who came from a wordfly shop and thought mail2 had more going for it, which reinforced our initial worry about switching.

Truth be told, I think each organization is different and needs to analyze based on how they use the system and what their priorities are. For us, that was mail2, even with feeling a bit burned by the communication issues. The issues from the conversion last January have largely resolved themselves for us (no doubt in part due to new season, new templates, creating for the system and not for an upgrade). Happy to talk in person if that would be helpful -- sarabill@umich.edu.

  • We're making the switch next month.  I spoke to a lot of people at the conference, and ultimately what it came down to, the problems of this past year aside, was that the way Wordfly is engineered, in terms of reporting, integration, etc. is more in line with how we want to conduct our email practices.
