Hey marketing folks:

Do you have a written policy on how and when you allow young children in the theater?  If so, can you send it my way?  We’re revising ours and wondering what others are doing.

    Like First Stage, much of The New Victory's audience is comprised of young people, so our age recommendations vary by show and are clearly marked in our materials and on our website. We do not turn children of any age away, but everyone regardless of age is required to purchase a ticket. Parents with very young children are informed that in case they need to step out of the house with their child, they can watch the show on our live feed monitor and re-enter at an appropriate point when the child has quieted down.
     
    Here are examples of some of the language that we use:

    From our season brochure's age guidelines chart:
    RIGHT FOR YOU? These guidelines are designed to help you decide if a show is appropriate for you and/or your family. The New Victory has carefully considered the youngest appropriate age for each show by working closely with the artists who created each work. We are thrilled this season to offer work for very young children (see MY HOUSE and THE BUTTERFLY GARDEN) and recommend that with these exceptions the shows for "ALL AGES" are generally best enjoyed by kids aged 4 and up.
