Triggered ticket offer email with an A/B split?

I've been asked to create a triggered email with an A/B split and I'm not sure if that's possible in Wordfly and I'm looking for any ideas on whether it can be done.

I've done regular triggered emails with just one list of patrons getting one message. We have a concert this weekend and we want half the Friday audience to get a message for an upcoming classical concert and the half to get a message for an upcoming Pops concert.

Any one done this before?

Thanks,
Melissa

  • Hi Melissa,

You can A/B test Through Wordfly but I think only for Standard I'm afraid. You can A/B Test the following:

    • A/B test the subject line
    • A/B test the From name
    • A/B test two email templates

You can also split your list in extraction manager using the RandomSelect% and create separate Source Codes.

    Hope that helps

  • As far as I know it's not possible, as you can only A/B test a Standard Campaign.

It might be worth dropping Wordfly a line on their support email in case they have any ideas.

  • Hello all,

We've come up with a bit of a bodge for A/B testing triggered campaigns in Mail2.  Basically, everyone whose constituent ID ends in an odd number gets one version of the email, everyone whose constituent ID ends in an even number gets the other version.

It's far from perfect, but as close as we could get.

  • Thanks everyone. The odd/even gave us an idea and we're working on something that might get us what we need.

  • Melissa -

You're absolutely correct that WordFly only includes the A/B split option with "Standard" campaigns. You can probably rig something up via the Tessitura lists though, and then simply do manual evaluation of the results. This may actually be better overall anyway, as I've had trouble reporting on resulting sales from our A/B splits because that level of detail isn't synced back to Tessitura.

In Extractions, there are built in tools for pulling random %s of segments. Perhaps that's an option as a starting point to create two lists. Or, if you are really focusing on just one audience, perhaps you can use a standard campaign and schedule it to run using dynamic lists.

Hope this helps you reach some new ideas,

    Jamie
