Tessitura and PayPal

I've seen a few old (2013 and earlier) posts asking for org's using PayPal, with no clear indication of any that actually are. We are in the very early stages of exploring and wondered if anyone who has implemented would be willing to provide pro's and con's?

  • Hi - yes, we're using PayPal, and have been surprised at how popular it's been.  The website uses the PayPal API, customers are sent to the PayPal site to authenticate on desktop, tablet and mobile. and PayPal posts back reference nos. to Tessitura as part of the Checkout Ex3 call.

  • Oh and pros and cons:

    pros:

    • you get to take PayPal and people like it
    • it works

    cons:

    • PayPal charge high transaction charges unless you convince them you're a not-for-profit
    • It's a bore trying to convince PayPal that you're a not-for-profit

  • Thanks Richie. This is helpful.

  • Another pro: This morning we experienced an outage in debit/credit card payment processing. We were able to put a splash screen up on the site explaining this and encouraging people to try PayPal instead.
