Workshops

Hi everyone,

Last we started to do workshops for schools and they were a huge success. Because it was our first year we were very flexible about start times and based it on the needs of the teacher, so there hasn't been much consistency. We have already doubled our bookings this year and I would like to start entering them into Tess (right now we are using an excel spreadsheet - ack!). We have also spoken with our group sales person and we are working towards creating 1 invoice that includes both tickets and the workshop. The invoice includes a start time and because we have been so flexible about the time I've been told it can't happen. Has anyone run into the same problem and figured out a way to work around it?

Thanks!

  • Natasha,

We have some similar outreach programs through our Center for Dance Education where students from local public schools either come to our location for classes or have one of our teachers go out to their school for classes. We've been doing it for a while now, however, so we're a bit tighter with regard to scheduling and putting the onus on the schools and teachers to fit our schedules instead of flexing to fit theirs.

I know one thing we're really looking forward to (across the whole organization) is going to be Resource Scheduling in V14 of Tessitura. We've already been building up records of our local schools and school districts (along with teachers and contacts) within our Tulsa Arts Management Consortium, and we're definitely hoping that Resource Scheduling will allow us to do all of this work within Tessitura (omitting the need to track in external Excel spreadsheets). Of course, until we see V14 in action, it's all theoretical as to how much will be able to dovetail nicely into the new functionality.

Obviously, that doesn't help you right now, but I think (with V14 on the eventual horizon) it might be easier to find a temporary workaround for now and keep a close eye on the development of Resource Scheduling versus potentially trying to invest in any custom work.

    Thank you,

    Brian
