Every once in a while I have issues with members forgetting their online login information and end up creating a duplicate CID and donating money through it. This puts their donation on account on the dupicate CID and not the one with their previous giving history. Is there a way to move on account money between CIDs?
Hi Anna,
I've had this problem happen at a few places I've worked. If you merge the IDs before booking the money that is On Account, the money will stay On Account and end up on the ID that you want to keep. You can then book it to the account with all of the correct history.

If I understand you correctly, you need to find out who in your organization handles merging accounts. When you merge two customer accounts, the kept id replaces the lost id for all transactions, customer service issues, payments, orders, gifts, memberships, and the rest. If there are active memberships in both accounts, it gets a little complicated. For that reason, it is our practice to try to keep membership money on account until all accounts built online have been checked (via procedure) to see if they are duplicates.

We have not found a way to do this.
Feel free to give me a call if you need to discuss further. J

You could transfer the money to the good account via a "gift certificate", if that payment method is available, and then merge the accounts as usual.
