I've come across other Box Office software that will auto apply offers/price types when certain criteria is met e.g. events are setup with an offer on them where if you purchase tickets for all 5 events you get a discount and this will automatically be applied so the Box Office staff don't have to remember to do it. It will also work out whether a customer owes money to the Box Office or you owe them money if any tickets are returned and the remaining tickets no longer qualify for the offer. Or with groups it will auto apply the discount if a number of tickets is purchased at the same time for a particular event e.g. 10 or more - I'm fairly new to Tess so I'm just checking that this does not exist in the system anywhere yet?

There is not an automatic application of a discount but there is discount functionality that will allow you to take a percentage or dollar amount off tickets in the order across all or some of the events and price categories in your tickets. You might look at documentation on ticket pricing and the TR_Discount_Type table. You might also want to cross post this to the Ticketing Forum to see if you get other answers.

This is exactly the sort of functionality that we're working on for v12 right now. Our Pricing Rules Engine functionality will allow you to have rules that select a proper price type based on the constituent you are selling to ("this is an active member so they should get the member price type") and also alter the prices based on the contents of the cart ("they are purchasing 4 tickets to this performance so they should get 25% off tickets to any of these other performances").
Thanks Chuck that's great to know. I'm still new to Tess so just figuring out what it will do and what it can't at the moment compared to systems I have used before! We're upgrading to V11 in a couple of months so looking forward to the changes that come with that.
