Instant membership

Hi Mindi,

On our website when a user adds a membership to their basket they are switched into the members MOS and can therefore get all benefits. If this membership is removed then the basket empties and the user must start again.  

Does anyone have a system in place that allows people who become members/donors on line the opportunity to instantly be recognized as a member in Tess and are then able to purchase tickets/qualify for discounts etc. at the same time they open/renew their memberships? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hello Mindi,

I would recommend you use either Constituencies or attributes to do this.  At Walton Arts Center, we utilize the Constituency module for both our Friends membership program and subscribers.  This allows our web designers to pull these designations when they log into our website to purchase tickets.  Our ticket reps are also trained to look for these constituencies for phone or window orders.

We just implemented this last year – if you purchase a membership online as the first item in your cart, the system immediately recognizes you and gives you the member discount on tickets, beginning with that same order.

It required a fair amount of custom programming for the website that is too much to go into here (even if I did fully understand it).  Give me a call and I can talk through some of the considerations and put you in touch with the right person for more technical information.  (Note that I am only at Strathmore on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.)
