Rounding up campaign

Good morning,

We are interested in rounding up ticket prices to include a donation...e.g. if a ticket is $37, then we might ask the customer if they would like to round up to $40, where the $3 would be a donation.

I am interested in knowing if anyone is currently doing this (or considering it) and what experience you have had with it.

Thanks!  Richard Glass (richard@scr.org)

    Hi Richard,

We've had a lot of success with a small standard donation request for all single ticket sales.  We use a flat rate ask instead of rounding up.  Our box office reps were initially put off by this, but were surprised by how many patrons said "yes" and how easy it was to incorporate into their standard patter.

This has been a great way to generate a little extra money for the theatre and has a side effect of making the reps feel more empowered.

  • We have actually done this at Center Theatre Group with all of our single ticket websales.  It has been extremely successful and we use a roundup function at two dollar values.

We have raised a fair amount of money and our patrons like seeing us asking for it.

Some thought that it wasn't going to go well but it has.  We haven't done this in our box office though.  That is a great idea!

    Thanks,
