I'm researching better ways to sell fundraising events online. Currently I have TNEW forms that we make due with but they are far from ideal. I'm using the TNEW giving forms because we want the money to end up on the contribution screen. We have events of all different sizes throughout the year. At a basic level, I need people to be able to select the number of tickets they want and for the form to know how much to charge for that. For larger events I need to be able to collect guest names, dietary restrictions, seating info, etc. My questions are:
1. Is anyone successfully using TNEW giving forms to sell events in a way that is patron friendly?
2. If you aren't using TNEW forms, what other vendors are you using?
Thanks!
So we use TNEW for our events, and here are some of the things we do to make it work:
First, in regards to the number of tickets, in our drop down menu we've got options for both specific sponsorship levels as well as single ticket purchases of multiple amounts. So there's an option for one ticket, two tickets, three tickets, etc. Not sure how it is for you, but for us by the time folks purchase seven tickets they may as well just become a sponsor so we can it at six tickets for that reason. You can assign how much each of those sponsorship levels/ticket purchases cost so it will auto-populate that amount once they choose the drop down.
In regards to collecting names, dietary needs, seating and all, you can set that up so that they fill it out on the donation screen and it gets saved as a CSI on their record once they make the payment. You would set up the fields in the TNEW_CUSTOM_FORM_DATA table and then set up what CSI it populates with the TNEW_CUSTOM_FORM_SAVE_DATA.
I hope this helps! I would link you to our event giving page, but we're not currently having one so there's nothing really set up for it.
Thanks, Colleen. Having people pick the number of tickets they want on the website and then linking to different forms depending on how many they choose was the only thing I could think of with TNEW. I was trying to avoid it but it might be the only way to make TNEW forms a little more friendly. We are also using CSI's to collect guest names, etc. and that generally works well. I should have noted that - was just trying to give an idea of what we generally need to be able to do no matter what the solution. Appreciate your insight!
Hi - we have some of the same issues, however I will share some of what we are doing:
Contribution Pages
We do a sponsorship page in TNEW (This link is handed out on a per sponsor basis to make a payment - not open to public)
https://cart.fpconservatory.org/donate/i/83
in the cart we have a button with a link to a CC fee donation
https://cart.fpconservatory.org/donate/i/93
We have an event donation page (meaning no tickets/sponsorship benefits)
https://cart.fpconservatory.org/donate/i/82
We have a Ticket Purchase Page (This barely gets used - just for extra tickets sponsors may want to purchase - )
https://cart.fpconservatory.org/donate/i/84
If we have Tickets that are priced differently in different areas, we have a separate page for those that we give links to the folks purchasing extra or one off tickets at those tables
https://cart.fpconservatory.org/donate/i/85
Once we have most of the sponsorships sold and are down to just a few seats we take the Ticket purchase page off sale
We then build a Performance on the ticketing side to handle the last few capacity controlled single tickets
We use Forms to manage dietary restrictions and seating requests
We have other events we do this for as well and have our pages reference steps

Happy to help any way I can
Hey Liz,
We aren't on Tnew so we use Donate2. It sounds like very similar functionality to what Colleen described in Tnew. Here's an example event we have going on D2 at the moment.

This seems like a recurring question that I ask myself every year, there has to be a better way, but Tessitura really makes it difficult to sell Elevated Events. We've recently started using Donate2 and Flex2, which has been working much better for us for selling everything online. We're actually planning on using Flex2 to sell our big annual fundraising event. We'll set up some "dummy" events to sell tickets to for all of our different levels, and we can then limit the numbers of tickets available (so we don't accidentally oversell anything). We have it setup to put the money on account, our Box Office handles the actual seating for the performance, then they move the money over to an on account payment method I can access. I then apply that money towards the elevated event. It definitely involves a few extra steps, but for the way our event works it's going to be pretty slick. And it allows our Box Office to also sell these for us in person or over the phone.
Thanks, Laurel.
On this page: https://cart.fpconservatory.org/donate/i/84 how are you getting the amounts to populate when you select the different amount options? It doesn't look like those are separate pages, just that it fills in the amount. Or are they separate pages? And, how do you get the buttons to say more than just a dollar string? I'd love to pick your brain a bit more if you are willing.
Hi Liz, it just fills in the amount..it does not take you to a different page with a different form.
If you wanted to do that...I would suggest a single landing page with links to each other page that needs a different form.
Happy to set up a time to discuss and answer any questions.

Hello Megan! I loved your event page you shared here, and I shared it with our marketing team member that designs our Donate2 pages. Would it be okay with you if I shared your contact into with him so he could reach out with a few questions on how you set this up?
Of course. Also the D2 team is really awesome to work with; if you haven't already, let them know what you're wanting to do and they will be great partners in building and prototyping the first set.
We've also been very happy with D2. Our upcoming event (not on sale yet, so I can't link it) has a custom URL and there's a lot can be done styling, background images and os on, as well as connected confirmation messages with tokens for including data from Tessitura and their responses (also recorded in CSIs).
