Designations for Gifts from ticketing

We've noticed that designations are not being applied to contributions made through the ticketing module. I applied a default designation to the ticketing campaigns, and after that it's available for selection in the drop-down on the Contribution Detail window, but is not applied by default.

Is this normal? Is there a way to force a designation to be applied?

  • We used to run a nightly procedure that would add a particular designation to all contributions entered via ticketing.

    Hi Brian,
This also happened to us when exploring ticketing as an option for gift entry.  I opened a help desk ticket about it along with other questions but closed the ticket since we changed direction.  Anyway, just wanted you to know you are not alone on this.

  • Contributions entered through ticketing were never intended to be more than simple gifts to a single fund with no further restriction, applying to memberships if appropriate.  If you need further delineation of gifts coming through ticketing channels, the recommendation is to place gift monies to a designated On Account payment method (“Pending Gifts”, e.g.), so that Development can process the gifts as desired directly in the Contribution Editor (using the on-account balance as the gift payment).  While it is theoretically possible to adjust values on T_CONTRIBUTION for gifts entered through an order, these modifications are unsupported.  There is a strong possibility that these altered gifts would not show up in some reports or analysis tools.

Thanks for the full explanation Ryan.  As mentioned, we did not go this route but it is good to know.
