Selling Unseated Gala Online with out Price Map

Hi there,

We're looking at selling our gala online. We want to:

  • Sell seats as GA
  • Leave the orders unseated.
  • Deactivate the price map.

Has anyone sold a gala like this before? What pitfalls have you run into? Do you have any set up hacks?

Thanks,

Nicole

  • I'm interested to follow this thread, as I'm hoping to make some updates to how we sell our gala tickets. We've always used a 3rd party site like OneCause or MobileCause, and it creates so much double entry. I'd love to sell tickets on our own website.

I work in Development and used to work in a Box Office with Tessitura, but it's been many years. I assume you have different purchase levels for the gala. Could each price point be tied to a separate GA performance in Tess that you then later exchange into the actual performance?

Very glad you asked this question!

  • Our system is not necessarily great, but we've also struggled with this and have morphed over the years. We are currently on-sale ( https://www.dallaszoo.com/zootodo )using Ticketing to get them tickets and a QR Code ticket so they "think" they have tickets and something to show when they arrive. In reality, we will not scan the tickets and we will go off of lists. And I should mention this is not for "tables of ten" but this is for "single tickets".

We are then doing what I call "up and over" using the Event Cancellation Utility to move the money from a Ticket Order into a Contribution, where our Development team wants it.

For the high dollar tables, we are using the standard Contribution Pages with a few Custom TNEW Questions. As it gets closer, there is still the issue with seating and Guests in the Elevated Events that requires hand-holding, but this will be the second year with this iteration and it worked relatively well (keeping it contained in Tess), At the Conference this summer, several of us put in votes/suggestions/roadmaps/pushed for Elevated Events being accessible thru TNEW. Hope you find this somewhat useful!!
