Mobile Giving, Text2Give, Etc

We are looking for a way to take instant donations at small donor events. We do have TNEW but are looking more for a "one click" type option. Not looking at Venmo, Paypal, etc,  we're wondering what everyone else uses. Donate2 looks nice, but I'd love to get ideas from this team, before I spend hours down a bunch of rabbit holes. If it works well, we'll use it at larger events down the road, like the Gala and actual shows so something like a $5k max per week will not work long term for us.

TIA!

Yvonne

  • We too have a text to give platform, but it makes users create an account with them, so in the end it wasn't as user friendly. I push our one page giving site as much as possible. I created a QR code for signage and such so it is easy to share with patrons. I like it since they don't have to create an account and it goes directly into Tessitura for ack letters and reconciliation. I was having to export the data out of our t2g and enter it into Tess. Good luck finding one that works best for you!

  • We are planning a one-page giving scenario with a QR Code as you mentioned. Quick question - how did you create your QR Code? Do you have a good website or place where you create the QR code? I'm cautious and don't know the in's & out's of QR Code production. I've seen and tested some of the sites on the internet, but this is a new realm for me and I'm not sure if there are dangers or "scam" factors on random QR Code generator sites. If you have a trusted site and could share that would be awesome. And - if anyone has any cautionary advice, I'd love to hear it!! (you can't be too safe these days Slight smile)

  • I used a code generator online and seem to have good success with it. If you use a Google Chrome browser you can also create one right there. Just click in the site bar and on the right you will see a QR code image. You can just click on that and it will generate one for you. Keep in mind that theirs does have a little dinosaur in it so if that isn't something you want, I would recommend a code site. Just make sure you use one that will not limit your scans or expire your code.

  • I don't have a particular service to recommend, but I'm interested in the topic of using QR codes to direct people to One Page Giving on TNEW. Have you considered/experimented with embedding a source code in the URL for the QR code so you can track how many donations you get from it? Or other ways to measure its usage?

  • Thank you!

Michael - I actually haven't thought that far yet. We'll be having an off-site mural/wall-covering promotion in a high-traffic area promoting non-profits this summer, so our plan is to use the QR Code to One-Page Giving idea. I don't believe there will be another avenue to get to the One-Page site, so we will know that they all came from the QR Code...but definitely something to think more about. Thanks for the input.

  • I love that idea! I have looked at it a little bit, but we don't really get much traffic on it so I haven't put it into practice yet, but love that idea especially for specific events.
