Would anyone know a best practice for generating year-end tax receipts? We just migrated over to Tessitura in May and so I'm new to the system. So far I've only been able to find reports that pull straight gifts and "total gifts" seems to only include straight gifts as well, but the reports don't include pledge payments in the total giving amounts. What are some of the best ways you've found to generate these letters? Thanks!
Hi Taylor - I usually run the Fund Activity Report in the Finance folder, then save to Excel, then insert a pivot table to condense the data. It's a bit of spreadsheet-work, but it's been a decent system for me. Microsoft offers a few tutorials on pivot tables: https://support.office.com/en-ie/article/create-a-pivottable-to-analyze-worksheet-data-a9a84538-bfe9-40a9-a8e9-f99134456576. You're welcome to call or email me with any questions too (if you all would want to go this route). Thanks! - Tele
We also use the Fund Activity Report but you have to watch out for adjustments and backdated gifts. The Goods and Services has been the difficult part, but we're building a FMV system table to help with that going forward.
I so appreciate this, Tele! Super helpful - and thank you for sending over the link to the pivot table tutorial!!
Thanks for the heads up, Mark!! I know what you mean about the FMV... I created a custom data field for the FMV and so that was partly why I liked exporting the information out of list manager, so I could export that field as well. But if you find that the FMV system table is a good solution, I'd love to hear more about that! By backdated gifts, do you mean pledge payments? I've found that most reports don't include pledge payments within the time period I've put in because the pledge payment "date" is coming up as the original date on the pledge. Have you found a way around this? Thanks again!
