Cash flow planning by month

Hello,

I've seen a lot of discussion on here about cash flow projections, but it all ends up pointing to the Fund Activity Report or Yearly Cash Planning Report. Has anyone had success in generating something like a fund activity report but breaks total cash received by fund down by month? If I could get a breakdown of cash flow from last year, I can use it to help project monthly cash flow for this year.

So, something like this:

2017

Fund

January

Feb

march

General Donor

$$$

$$

$$

Major Donor

$$

$$

$$

Special Events

$$

$$

$$

  • Hi Megan,

I use T-Stats for this sort of thing. It allows me to pull data by month for various fiscal years, campaigns, and other criteria as needed so that I can do detailed comparison without having to pull multiple reports and combine data in excel. And it's easy to drag and drop different criteria or change specific selections as needed quickly. Have you used T-Stats and/or do you have access to it? If so, I'm happy to share the criteria for the T-Stats reports I use regularly for income tracking comparisons/analysis. I also regularly track gift volume as well to project work time needed for things like gift entry and acknowledgement letters. There is also a T-Stats recipe book posted on the network website somewhere.

  • That's a great idea! I use T-Stats regularly for audience demographic analysis and prospecting... I don't know why I didn't think of it for this project. I just found that recipe book, but if you could share the criteria you use, that would be terrific. Thank you!
