On Account donations and duplicate accounts

So here's one I'm trying to figure out: A patron pledged some money a few weeks ago. They paid it online; we put our online donations into on accounts for Devo to process. This patron started a duplicate account and paid his pledge under that. So I've got an on account pledge payment sitting under a duplicate account. What's the best way to get a handle on this one?

  • You could merge the accounts before processing the payment.

Or, if you can’t do that for any reason, or can’t do it right away, you could change the individual account with the pledge to a household account (in the header to go “constituents” drop down, select “household operations” and “convert to a household”), add the account with the payment as an affiliate (but not A2), then use the “move transactions to household” function to get the payment from the individual account to the household. Once that is done, removed the duplicate account from the household and change the household account back to an individual account.  Not the fastest but if you can’t merge for any reason, it will get the money where you need it.
