In Kind Donations

Hello,

My organization is trying to figure out the best way to record in kind donations. We are considering creating another campaign specifically for in kind donations so that they will be tracked separately from other donations. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thank you,

  • I agree with Levi. I used to have separate in-kind funds linked to campaigns that included cash funds as well. Now I create separate in-kind campaigns to match the in-kind funds. There are so many reports that run on campaign (not fund) so it makes reporting on cash versus in-kind gifts much easier.

  • We have a separate In Kind campaign with several funds that track which department (development, music, production, administration, etc.) gets credited with the donation so that we know who needs to write the acknowledgement. We can therefore easily include or exclude the value of in kind gifts when looking at annual giving.
