Membership Status: Pending and Active

Hello, 

 

I was wondering if anyone has any experience in dealing with pending memberships.  As I understand it, a pending membership does not become active until the initiation date hits and the expiration date of the current membership expires. 

However,I've noticed that many of my pending memberships with initiation dates marked months ago are not activating.  

If it's not relying on the initiation date, then what will trigger the pending membership to become active?

    Yup, Chris is correct! Do some testing in your test system first, just to understand how it works. If you pull a list of people with a expiring on, say, Feb 15, 2016, and then run the utility through Feb 15, you should see all those people showing as inactive. Look closely at how it activates your pending memberships; this will help you figure out whether you want to run it late at night or early in the morning, depending on your business practices.

    Hi Rey,

    I am by no means a Membership guru, but I think you need to run the Membership Update Utility in order for the status to change. You set this to run as a scheduled utility so that your membership do then update automatically. There is documentation in help here: http://www.tessituranetwork.com/Help_System_v121/Tessitura_v121_Left.htm#CSHID=List_Manager|StartTopic=Content%2FList%20Creation%20and%20Management%2FList%20Manager.htm|SkinName=TN Skin
