Extraction Pulls Constituents with Inactive Address

Hi there,

We are trying to tap into some potential and I've been asked to pull a list of anyone in our database who has an address with a certain zip code. I've set up the extraction and have had success EXCEPT for it also includes names of people who have an INACTIVE address with that zip code. Why on earth would the extraction include people with these inactive addresses and is it possible to change this?!

Thanks!

  • Jillian,

You would also need to pull in the criteria "Inactive Addresses in No' to only pull active addresses.

Michele is correct; you could also do the flip side of that and say Primary Address IN Y to only get default addresses (which must be active).

At City Center we have done extractions that would be fine with inactive addresses!  EX: A touring company from a certain city comes through and we want to send it to ticket buyers who have lived in that city, even if they no longer live there.

  • Within extraction manager, under the "Address Information" elements folder, there isn't an option for Inactive Addresses, so I'm unable to even enter that element. Is this a custom element?

  • You can add it in T_Keyword. Take a look at the system table documentation for this table and you would want to add criteria for lists and extractions.

  • Michael, thanks for the suggestion. In this instance, I don't want to include only primary addresses. We are looking at some "off-season" programming for this region, which is mostly vacation/secondary homes, and we want to see how many of our constituents have an address there to see if it'd be worth doing anything.

  • Hi Jillian,

I think you’d have to put in a suppression segment in your extractions for the inactives.

Extractions will pull inactives unless suppressed, but List Manager *doesn’t* look at inactives unless you manually edit the list criteria.  One of the joys of lists vs extractions!

    Cheers,
    Kathleen

  • Jillian,

The “Address Information” folder has “Address Active Status”.  Use the operator “In” and the value “Yes” to get current, active addresses only.
