Tax receipts for pledges

 Hi All,

Does any one know of Tessitura reports for calculating tax and creating the receipts for pledges? There is a Pledge billing report which generates bills but I am not aware of any Tax receipts report. If any one uses custom report or calculates tax and creates the receipts at the end of each Financial year on adhoc basis then please let me know if you would like to share the files or code for that?

Regards,

Renu.

  • Labels and Letters > Print Acknowledgement Letters may be able to handle your ongoing “receipts.”  We created a custom report that collects and presents calendar year contributions for annual reporting.  Originally we sent an annual receipt to just about everyone, but now sent mostly just at customer request.   We let the “Print Acknowledgement Letter” acknowledgement/receipts, with clarifying wording about pledges, gifts and payments, carry the bulk of the receipt load.

  • We do not use a custom report in Tess for this. Our tax receipts for contributions are built into our acknowledgement thank you merge template.

  • Thanks John for letting me know. I wonder if I calculate tax in back end and can print the tax receipt by customizing this infomaker report. Thanks for pointing to this existing Tessitura report.

  • Hi Marie,

How do you populate the "acknowledgement thank you merge template" with tessitura data?

There is a great Powerpoint presentation on the use of Tessi and mail merge for acknowledgement letters in the conference archives.

  • Renu,

We have our acknowledgements set up in our system tables an on our reference pages within Tess. There is documentation at Tessituranetwork.com for the set up of these.

I run the Print Acknowledgement Letters w/ Program Names report to isolate a specific type of letter.

When the PDF of the report results pops up with the records and names, I click on the “Reports Menu” and then “Merge”. A file window comes up and I find the specific letter template I need. I click merge.

The letter has merge fields in it and the information is dropped into the letter.

I perform some minor tweaks to the letter and then just print.

Give me a call sometime and I can walk you through it.

I also saw the listing for a recorded webinar on tess net. Log into Tessituranetwork.com and click on Learning Resources. Then click on Recorded Webinars and T-Casts in the left hand pane. Below that, click on Development. The first recorded webinar I see is “Contribution Acknowledgements-Thanks A Million!

  • Is this what you used when you learned to do this?  We should have interns watch this when they work on revising these letters….
